I was thinking today that I have so many things to do. The start of one of my often work and family management thoughts, of how can I do things better. A light bulb lit. I got an idea from my husband. Time Budget!
Often, my husband asks me, “How much time in a week do you need to work on your school work?”
I know, how selfish, he wants to keep track of my time to make sure that the rest of my time is spent on him and the kids.
Nevertheless, this got me thinking. Why didn’t he ask how many hours a day? A day has 24 hours in it. We usually schedule our week by days. At least I do. However, I thought about my husband’s question; “a week, huh.”
This made me think about how we budget our money. Is it by day? No, it’s by month. Therefore, why not think of our time as a weekly budget?
If I have to do school work, it may be easier to think of it as a weekly budget where I can use one or two days a week, instead of one or two hours a day. This may help me be more productive if I get started on a project and keep going on it while I still have the momentum.
Let’s think about it. How many hours in the week do you need to work on your WAHM business? Continued education? Socialize online and offline? Market your WAHM business? PLAY with your kids? Play with your husband? Play with your poor neglected dog?
Now take that time and try to spread it throughout the week, trying to group more time together to be more productive. As I said, if you are working on a project, why stop to spread the time throughout the week, which will hinder your momentum? Keep going while you’re on a roll. Work out your Time Budget to help your momentum and increase your productivity.
